Here, courtesy of Leo, is another of her papers [paywalled pdf, accessible at the university], which includes a more empirical look at another ‘green-living device’ – a ‘tealight’ which tells you if there’s excess capacity on the electricity grid, and therefore if it’s okay to make a cup of tea (see the original idea here).
